NY-20: Tedisco: I Would Have Voted “No” on the Stimulus

The shifty bastard finally comes clean:

It’s no longer a hypothetical question.

Assembly Minority Leader Jim Tedisco just came out against the stimulus package passed last month by Congress after having previously saying only that he supported a package with amendments. The question has been used by his Democratic opponent, Scott Murphy, in their race to succeed Kirsten Gillibrand in Congress.

“My position is: yeah, I worked as hard as I could have to get those amendments in and to get them passed. I realize now that people don’t understand that if they didn’t get passed, I would have voted no,” Tedisco said. “I’m going on the record now to say I would have voted no, because what we should have done was go back to the drawing board, get a stimulus package that truly creates jobs, invests in infrastructure and the economy.”

Shorter Tedisco: I would have voted against the actual stimulus so that I could instead vote for a non-existent stimulus. It seems that national Republicans would rather lose this seat than win with a pro-stimulus platform. Wild. I am sure Scott Murphy will eviscerate him for this nonsense.

  1. for finally coming out with a position on the stimulus. It took you only how long? At least a month?

Now, I’d like to see some polling done to see how this has affected the numbers.

  2. finally admits wannabe congressman Jim Tedisco after months of questioning.

Failed conservative ideology trumps the needs of the people of NY-20.

Jobs and homes for average upstate New Yorkers such as the good people of NY-20 are unimportant.

The only important things are the wants and greed of the elite 1% that rules the Republicans Party.

    Disgusting.

Jim Tedisco has no business trying to represent the good, hard working people of NY-20.

He needs to go back to his own district and stop being a problem for us.

We need real representation that has the needs of upstate New Yorkers in mind, not another obstructionist of the failed conservative ideology.

  3. That’s because you never said it before, Jim.

I hope Murphy is able to point out that the people of the 20th district (not including carpetbagger tedisco, of course) need someone who is ready to vote on the bill when it’s presented in congress, not a month after.

  4. Republican Jim Tedisco opposed the stimulus bill supported by President Obama and Senator Gillibrand which will create (XXX number) of jobs in New York’s 20th district.  Just say no to Tedisco and yes to President Obama and Scott Murphy on March 31st.

  5. I saw Murphy speak the other day and he really seemed like a good politician. I also canvassed my college and pretty much everyone I talked to said that they would vote for him; there definitely wasn’t as much apathy as I would have expected.

  6. This may help Scott Murphy a touch.  According to an article in today’s Buffalo News, Democrats out number republicans in upstate NY (defined as the counties N of Rockland Co.) for the first time since the 1930’s.

  7. A quote from his latest ad:

Like the President says, “In these difficult times, we’re not Republicans or Democrats, we’re Americans.” And that’s the team I’m on.

One problem Jimbo, your party was 100% against the economic recovery plan.  And it’s hard to pretend to be a Democrat when you’ve been a Republican in Albany since 1982.
